Time.com has put together a list of the 100 all-time greatest toys. Silly Putty is one of the toys from the 1950's. According to the article, the polymer was a byproduct of the development of synthetic rubber.
The other rheologically interesting toy is Play-Doh, which was originally a wallpaper cleaner. The product was a hit with kids because it was softer than the clay that was available then.
Play doh is a clay that kids really love to play with. You can do whatever shape you want with it. And also, it is safe to play because it's non toxic.
ReplyDeleteReading that list brings back a lot of memories from childhood. Good to see that some toys never get outdated and are good for every generation. I remember using Play-doh and making pretend food in my pretend play kitchen . Always a good time !
